Some clubs have canceled the weekly meeting the week of October 7 to encourage members to attend this All Clubs Lunch. Check with your club to see if they will be covering the cost of this event.

This lunch will celebrate the growth of Rotary and the changes that have occurred as a result of women being admitted and to inspire a new generation of Rotarians.

North American women make up about 22% of membership and female members in other countries account for about 15% of membership, the vote to admit women in 1987 was a hard-fought, decades-long effort. Locally, current District Governor, Beverly Christy of St. George is only the second woman to hold this position in Rotary’s 106-year history in the Beehive State.

The keynote speaker, Jennifer Jones, is an exemplary Rotarian and will surely inspire those in attendance to find ways to Make a Difference.  Jennifer is the President and CEO of Media Street Productions Inc., an award winning television production company in Canada. She is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland and has received so many Rotary awards that are simply too numerous to mention. But her most recent Rotary position was Vice President of Rotary International. In fact, Jennifer is the only woman to hold this position.  

Jennifer will speak about her incredible experience being part of Rotary International and discuss ideas to help clubs increase their membership, including how to motivate young people to catch the vision of Rotary. 

The lunch will also include a panel of distinguished Rotarians comprised of both men and women. The panel will address ideas such as how to take advantage of your time in Rotary and meeting community leaders. To add to the celebration, each guest will receive a glass with a commemorative logo, hear from a young Rotarian that will undoubtedly leave you with a feeling that the path forward is strong, and acknowledge a distinguished award recipient nominated by each club.

Everyone can do something. Age is not a factor. Gender is not a factor. Income is not a factor. Service Above Self is the ultimate declaration of inclusivity. Rotary offers something for everyone and anyone can be part of Making a Difference. Register now!

SPONSORS NEEDED FOR MURRAY ROTARY CLUB'S BIKE RACE

The Murray Rotary Club and Bikes for Kids are excited once again to present the Salt Lake Valley B4K Stage Race, scheduled to be held on May 30th and May 31st.  The bike race has become a popular event, and this stage race has become the premier multi stage race in the Intermountain region.

Proceeds from the Murray Rotary Criterium help support Bikes for Kids Utah, a nonprofit organization that provides under privileged children with free bicycles.  Bikes for Kids has delivered 1,000 new bikes every year to children in the state since it was first established in 2006.

The annual Orem Rotary Golf Classic will be held Wednesday August 28, 2013 at The Links at Sleepy Ridge in Orem. The Classic has been a great success over the years, with over $100,000 raised and distributed to local charities. The benefitting charities are: Utah Hemophilia Foundation, Utah Valley University Foundation, March of Dimes, Orem Rotary, and YouthLinc. Our special thanks to our many sponsors, who help make this possible.

Tournament Format:
The tournament has a great, exciting golf format. All regular par three holes (4,7,12,14 feature $5,000 cash prizes for a hole-in-one! On par four holes (1,3,6,8,9,10,11,15,18), tee boxes are moved up to par three distances and the holes are played as par 3’s, with prizes for closest to the pin. Par fives (2,5,13,17) are played as par fives, with long drive contests on each. There’s a chance to win a prize on every hole and $5,000 cash on every regular par three hole! But that’s not all! At the competition’s end, the closest to the hole on each of the par three and four holes, the long drive winners on each of the par fives, and the foursome that wins the scramble format advance to a playoff, the 19th Hole where they shoot to win a $1,000 in cash. Closest to the pin wins the cash! It’s guaranteed, someone will drive away with $1,000 Cash!

Springville Rotary Sunday in the Park

Springville Rotary "Sunday in the Park" Fundraiser & Car Show

Fellow Rotarians of Utah, Join us for a good cause!

August 18, 2013
8:00 am - 6 pm.
Location: Rotary Park, Springville UT

The Spring Rotary Sunday at the park event features hundreds of classic cars and motorcycles as well as some other unique vehicles. Also, delicious ribeye steak dinners, burgers, etc will be sold to raise funds for the club. Raffles for thousands of dollars worth of prizes are also a fun part of the event. Also, live music entertainment and on site Radio DJ are usually part of the event.

To enter a vehicle register at the gate from 8 am until noon. Price per car: $10
Trophies will be put out at 3pm. Raffle for car exhibitors will be at 4 pm.

Raffle drawing for guests will be held at the end of the event.
